I am studying to be a NP and I am shocked to hear this man say that NP must work under the supervision of a physician. That is totally inaccurate. NP are self-regulated, autonomous, and independent health care providers that work in collaboration with physicians. (Canada)

Scope of practice for advanced practice nurses (APRNs) varies by country and state/province. Training for nurse practitioners (NPs) is offered at the Masters & Doctorate level, which consist of several specialty options (Family Practice, Acute Care, Midwifery, Public Health, etc.). Although scope of practice varies by location, most APRN programs train APRNs/NPs to practice independently [i.e. not under supervision of an MD/Physician]. This was a very inaccurate video.

“UNDER the supervision of the physician”???
Nurses and Physicians work hand in hand/side by side.!!
Nurse’s don’t work for the Physician, Nurses work for the patient..

you don’t need a BSN to be a NP

What this man stated is incorrect. If you try to read International Council of Nurses’ definition of a Nurse Practitioner, wherein its says that NPs are functioning AUTONOMOUSLY/Indepently. Meaning, NPs can work with their own.

This man is claiming NPs work under the direct supervision of Physiians. This is totally inaccurate and untrue. NPs work in collaboration with their medical counterparts.
You have to consider the state, territory or country in which you practice as a NP. How the role is clinically managed, legislated and professionally underpinned before making these types of statements.

Totally inacurate!
